Privacy Policy

Respond Ability respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep it safe.

Who we are

Respond Ability is a somatic psychotherapy, NDIS psychosocial recovery coaching and group therapy practice operated by Sharon Muggivan, based at 446 Olive St, Albury, New South Wales, 2640, Australia. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Respond Ability.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Information we collect

We only collect information that we need to provide our services. This may include:

  • Contact and enquiry details — your name, email address, phone number, the topic you select and the message you send through our contact form.
  • Appointment details — information you provide when booking a session through our online booking tool (Calendly), such as your name, email and preferred time.
  • Health and sensitive information — information you choose to share about your wellbeing, disability, NDIS supports or circumstances so that we can provide appropriate care. Health information is “sensitive information” under the Privacy Act and receives a higher level of protection. We collect it only with your consent and only where it is reasonably necessary for our services.
  • Purchase information — when you buy a book or PDF, our payment provider collects your name, email and payment details. We receive confirmation of your order and your email address so we can deliver your purchase; we never see or store your full card details.
  • Website usage information — pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, collected through cookies and analytics tools.

How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiries and arrange appointments.
  • To provide therapy, coaching and group programs, and to keep appropriate clinical records.
  • To send you resources you have requested, such as pre-work documents or purchased PDFs.
  • To process payments and issue receipts.
  • To improve our website, services and communication.
  • To meet our legal, professional and insurance obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.

Who we share information with

We disclose personal information only where necessary, and only to trusted service providers who help us run the practice:

  • Calendly — online appointment booking.
  • Stripe — secure payment processing for book and PDF purchases.
  • Resend — sending enquiry confirmations and delivering purchased documents by email.
  • Supabase — secure database and file storage for website content and enquiry records.
  • Netlify — website hosting.
  • Google (Tag Manager and Analytics) — website usage measurement.

Some of these providers store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle your information in a way consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law, or where there is a serious and imminent risk to someone’s life, health or safety.

Cookies and tracking

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including Google Tag Manager, to understand how visitors use the site and to make it work properly. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not function as intended if you do.

Our accessibility settings (such as text size and contrast preferences) are stored only in your own browser and are never sent to us.

How we keep your information safe

We store information in secure, access-controlled systems and use encrypted connections for our website and email. Access to clinical and enquiry information is limited to those who need it to deliver our services. While no online system can be guaranteed completely secure, we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

We keep clinical records for as long as required by professional and legal obligations, and destroy or de-identify information once it is no longer needed.

Accessing and correcting your information

You may ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate or out of date. Contact us using the details below and we will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. In limited circumstances we may need to refuse access — if so, we will explain why in writing.

Making a complaint

If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
